Native Bird Inquiry Sits Idle as Duck Hunting Season Looms

Over 10,000 submissions were collected for the Labor-led parliamentary inquiry into Victoria’s native bird hunting arrangements, which has sat idle for months.

In the committee’s final report, – handed down in August – the first recommendation was a complete ban on recreational duck and quail shooting on private and public land from 2024.

Animal Justice Party Member for Northern Victoria, Georgie Purcell, says the delay is surprising.
