$17 Million in Fines Handed Out to Distracted Drivers

Fresh Government figures reveal over $17 million in fines were issued to Victorian drivers for being on their phones.

In the six months following the rollout of the detection cameras last year, over 30,000 drivers were captured and face penalties of four demerit points and a fine of $577 for using a mobile device when driving.

Mobile detection cameras are located in Castlemaine, Kyneton, Kangaroo Flat, Sandhurst, and across the state.
