A 37-year-old Ballarat miner trapped underground after a shaft collapsed at Ballarat’s Mount Clear Gold mine was found dead this morning.
Two people were pinned by fallen rocks at the Ballarat site yesterday, with a 21-year-old airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
The second man passed away. Police confirmed his body was recovered this morning.
The two men were pinned in a rockfall and trapped 500 metres underground and three kilometres into the mine, while another 25 took refuge in a safety pod and were brought to the surface late last night.
