Ballarat will be hosting an in-season WNBL home game for the Bendigo Spirit next month.
The Round 4 match between the Spirit and the Southside Flyers is part of the WNBL’s indigenous round, celebrating not just local culture and community but also the growth of women’s basketball in the region.
CEO of Basketball Ballarat, Neville Ivey, says they’re excited to partner with the Spirit to showcase elite women’s basketball in Ballarat.
He says the elite athletes serve as role models, inspiring young girls to pursue their dreams.
There’s already a strong connection between the two towns and clubs, with Head Coach Kennedy Kereama and players Abbey Wehrung and Micah Simpson both representing the Ballarat Miners NBL1 team last season, as well as representing Bendigo in the WNBL.
The event will take place at Selkirk Stadium on November 24th.
