Today marks the first day of the Greater Bendigo fire danger period.
The Central Goldfields and Mount Alexander Shire started their fire danger period last Monday.
Once the Fire Danger Period has been declared, residents cannot light a fire in the open air unless they have a permit or comply with certain requirements.
