Victoria Police have confirmed the death of a driver following a crash at the intersection of the Bendigo-Maryborough Road and Bridgewater-Maldon Road, shortly after 8am.

Police say a ute and an SUV collided in Laanecoorie, with the SUV driver dying at the scene.
The male driver of the ute was taken to Bendigo Hospital in a “stable condition”, according to Ambulance Victoria.

The death is the 31st life lost on Victorian roads this year, up more than 40% on 2022.
