Victoria is facing a significant firewood shortage and with winter on the way – local Nationals MP, Gaelle Broad – says that’s a worry!
The 2024 autumn firewood collection season opened on March 1 and local reports say that supplies were cleaned out within four hours.
Broad says a lack of firewood will also impact rising costs this winter.

Broad is also calling on the government to extend the season, increase supplies, and loosen rules around collecting wood from fallen trees.
Just last month, a 39-year-old man from Kyneton was fined $3000 after he illegally cut down trees for firewood in the Metcalfe state forest.
