Local Animal Justice Party Member, Georgie Purcel was escorted off native wetlands after breaking laws around entering wetlands during an active duck hunting season.
Purcel told the Herald Sun that she believes the rule is to prevent rescuers from “documenting the inevitable carnage inflicted by shooters”.
She is now calling out Premier Jacinta Allan to stop the season after its first week after Allan ignored the recommendations of Labor’s own parliamentary inquiry into Victorian Duck Shooting.
Police and authorised officers from the Game Management Authority removed Purcell and veteran anti-duck hunting campaigner Laurie Levy from the Johnson Swamp wetlands in Kerang.
The Animal Justice Party MP is now banned from attending all Victorian wetlands as it is illegal for any unauthorised person to be in a designated shooting area during an active duck hunt.
