The digital alteration of Northern Victoria Animal Justice Party MP, Georgie Purcell, in a Channel Nine broadcast has brought to light wider issues of the perception of female politicians by the media.
Nine issued an apology for the altered image, shown in a segment of its news broadcast last week, attributing the error to an AI tool in the picture editing platform Photoshop.
Nationals Member for Northern Victoria, Gaelle Broad, who often opposes Purcell’s proposals, agrees that women in politics deserve the same respect as their male counterparts.
