Bendigo locals have thrown their support towards fireworks and animal-based entertainment, following a community survey.
At May’s City of Greater Bendigo council meeting, two notices of motion requested staff look into alternative forms of entertainment that are more inclusive and safer for animals.
The surveys on platform Let’s Talk Greater Bendigo received 3,874 valid responses, with 92.3 per cent of people in favour of keeping animal-based entertainment.

76.2 per cent of people were in favour of the New Year’s Eve fireworks display continuing, whilst 75.4 per cent of respondents supporting the Easter Saturday display at the Bendigo Easter Festival continuing.
The findings will be considered at the council’s next meeting.
