Commencing in September, fines will be issued for those not complying with parking restrictions around the Central Goldfields Shire.
This approach complements the Maryborough Police, which has recently been enforcing parking in loading zones and no-standing areas following an increase in local businesses and service providers calling on Council to enforce parking restrictions in Maryborough’s CBD.
Council has seen an increasing number of motorists parking in the CBD precinct all day, which has meant potential customers haven’t been able to access time-limited car parking spaces when doing their shopping or accessing services.
Since early August, the Council’s Local Laws team has been patrolling the Maryborough CBD issuing warnings to motorists who overstay in time-designated spaces and who use disabled bays when not permitted to do so.
