Energy Safe Victoria, Country Fire Authority (CFA), and Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) are responding to increasing trends of lithium-ion battery-related fires – responding to at least one significant blaze per week – and that number is only growing.

CFA Deputy Chief Officer Garry Cook says to dispose of batteries safely by taping them – not only protecting those involved in the recycling process but young children also.

E-waste of any size can be dropped off at the Heathcote, Goornong and Strathfieldsaye transfer stations for free.

Smaller items such as batteries, can also be dropped off at other locations around the region such as the Kangaroo Flat and Bendigo Library.
