Victorian Tree of the Year Struck Down

The 2023 Victorian Tree of the Year has suffered a large crack – dropping its over 500-year-old limbs.

An arboricultural expert told the ABC that it is not unusual for trees of this age to drop limbs.

Local First Nations group, Djaara, plans to use the fallen limbs of the stately river red gum “Big Tree” in Guildford to create indigenous artifacts.
