Back for 2021, the Bendigo Writers Festival is set to return - setting the regional Victorian town alight with four days of events all bookworms and budding writers can enjoy.
The festival is one of the most highly anticipated events as part of the Central Victorian cultural calendar - set with the fitting theme of ‘STREWTH’, provides the perfect excuse to gather friends and enjoy a weekend getaway- discovering a selection of Australia’s very best writers, over four event filled days between May 6 and 9, 2021.
Taking place at leading Bendigo venues - The Capital and Ulumbarra Theatre - plus several events at Bendigo Library, the Bendigo Writers Festival ensures all venues are Covid-compliant and will be accessible for in-person attendance. The Capital and Ulumbarra Theatre are large venues which will enable social distancing for audiences, while Capital’s Bendigo Bank Theatre will be set up as a virtual theatre, live streamed for designated sessions – with all sessions having both in-person and virtual speakers and audiences.
Celebrating local writers while shining light on emerging talent, the Bendigo Writers Festival will comprise of 51 events with 104 speakers and is packed with celebrated writers from around the country and abroad - alongside high-profile literary names - attendees will be delighted with long time favourites and new surprises, because there's nothing quite like the joy of discovering something new.
