Senator for Victoria Sarah Henderson said  the $9 billion Jobseeker boost delivers for regional Victorians.

"I welcome the announcement that the Jobseeker rate will increase by $50 a fortnight from 1 April 2021," she said.

 The $9 billion commitment is the single biggest year-on-year increase to the rate of unemployment benefits since 1986.

Senator Henderson said recognising that the JobSeeker payment is a safety net and not a wage subsidy, the Mutual Obligation Scheme will also be enhanced to ensure that job seekers are more likely to accept employment when it is offered.
