1 Victorian Legislative Assembly Chamber
Leader of the Nationals and member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has announced that the Victorian Opposition will support advancing the state's Treaty process, despite internal push back.
The Treaty Authority and Other Treaty Elements bill will be debated in state Parliament on Wednesday.
Walsh said moving forward, the process should be delivered with a reconciliatory agenda.
"It's about walking across the land together," he said.
Walsh referenced the need to meet Closing the Gap indicators and pledged that the Indigenous community's "aspirations be achieved".
Former shadow attorney-general Liberal Tim Smith has pledged to cross the floor over the bill.
